The video didn't play all the way for us...just kept stopping and starting but from what I can see...everyone is right...you are just alpha dog and showing the new dog the ropes and containing her. Maya is food aggressive in the sense she will attack if another dog comes near her when she is eating. Mom just feeds us seperatly. We are hoping this will subside with time. If everything is give equally, then it should.
Mum says you eat your food very lady like. Not like my "two sisters" Mia and Phoebe. Mum says half the time it's like they "breathe" their food in and not taste it at all....bol.
We think you, Pumpkin are the Alpha dog. The Alpha dog always eats first and then the others eat. Nothing to be concerned about. Mom can reprogram if she wants, it just takes a little patience. You two are awfully cute!
Mum and I dont see any food aggression too. When Gunda lived with us she was nasty when she had finished her food and would chase Mia and I away from ours. Mum fixed that real quick by feeding her away from us..eg in the laundry! Mum loves watching dogs chase each other around the house! Great Video!
This is really cute and I don't see any problems with it. My 3 can eat side by side but Madison chases everyone away while we are preparing the food. And then if anyone gets too close to her, she will growl at them and chase them away. OH, it's cute too what Pumpkin does, putting the food on the floor and then eating it. Madison does that too. It's cute.
does not look like food agression to us. if you were offering them some cut up steak or chicken instead of big pieces of dry food, then they might find it worth fighting over. they seem like sweet dogs and since they are healthy and not starving, there is no real reason to fight over food as they are not all that hungry as to be desperate. the beginning stuff is just postering for position, but not really nasty at all. puppy and pack
Ya know, Pump, I don't have an answer for this. I've never seen it:-) It seems like you want to be the boss, but there is no real aggression concerning the food itself. Great video! Thanks mom!
I used to do this to Felix when I was a pup (and like a third his size). The trainer told Mom that she should feed Felix FIRST, so that I would learn that even if Felix got fed, I would always get some too. The herding isn't too much of a concer, but over time it might get worse :) Lovies - Koly
As long as you're not going after her while she's eating it doesn't seem to be an aggressive thing so I wouldn't worry about it. Sophia doesn't seem to be scared of you and that would be the concern. By the way, we love how you take your food out of the bowl before you eat it, Tag used to do that.

Well Pumpkin you certainly want to be boss, but you wanted while Sophia was fed first. You both are adorable. It must take you forever to eat! BOL!

We play fight like that all the time but look at the way I make her stay on the couch to wait for her dinner.
