A Panda shepherd is another variation of the German Shepherd.  The first Panda was born in Ohio to a breeder named Cindy McCann of Phenom Shepherds. Frankie was born to traditional black and tan parents and his siblings were all black and tan. He and his parents were thoroughly DNA and genetically tested with the University of California, Davis and there were no White German Shepherds in their ancestry.  A Panda is 35% white, the remainder of color is black and tan.  This color combo is sometimes referred to as piebald.  What does piebald mean?

A third variation of the German shepherd was developed in the 1970s by Tina M. Barber of New York, United States.  Her goal was to preserve the type of dog she remembered from her childhood in Germany.  The difference, then, between this type and a traditional German shepherd is in body type and temperment.  This dog is larger and has a straighter back than most modern GSDs and are bred for intelligence, size and stable temperaments. They come in two distinct coat varieties: the smooth or the plush coat and can be a wide range of colors: bi colored in black with tan, golden tan, reddish tan, silver, or cream. They also can be solid golden, silver, red, dark brown, dark grey, or black sable. This Shepherd has the same name as one of our DS friends.  If she met one of these dogs, she might tell him his caniscope and give him a paws up!
