The above is a video from the BBC about the breeding of purebred dogs for the show ring and breed characteristics.  It is hard to watch and you may need a tissue to watch it.  It goes into how we have overbred certain characteristcs into different breeds which in turn becomes the breed standard, however the breed standard doesn't go into the horrific genectic conditions that are passed on.  There are some breeds that have very large heads and can't be delivered naturally and require a c-section.  Image a puppy mill that has these breeds.  They don't use vet card and to think of the horror that the mothers go through by these puppy mill breeders is just to awful to think about.

Crufts, the big dog show in England was cancelled due to the backlash from the public.  So watch this if you want, but it needs to be considered before you buy a purebred puppy from a puppy mill.  Casper and Skye were rescues.  Casper - a product of a puppy mill has a terminal heart/lung disorder and has outlived projections, thankfully.  Hershey came from a breeder that guaranteed no genetic faults.  Hershey unfortunetly has the collapsing trachea disorder.  I am not going to send him back, but he clearly was bred with the breeders knowledge of this genetic defect.

Though this video has SOME truths in it. Crufts was not cancelled due to a PUBLIC outcry unless you consider animal rights terrorists as the public.
