Mouse Update 1/20/10

We wanted to give you an update on Mouse. She's doing good this morning. Tail up so that's a good sign. She's still on anitbiotics and pain meds. She's eating well and drinking water.
She went to the vet this morning for a vaginal flush and that was a really quick procedure. She was in and out and we were home within a half hour. She started crying because she thought I was going to leave her there but she soon found out that was not going to happen.
Mouse has two more flushes and hopefully will be on the road to a full recovery.
Mouse likes to do her morning little strentch before she gets out of bed in the morning. I have to wait for her to do this before she gets carried from the bedroom to the kitchen. Yes she is very spoiled like a little queen. Well she tries to strentch and realizes that it's not going to go her way. Because with the stitches she cannot do it. So she does a little one and then looks at me like okay carry me now........BOL......
We were very lucky that the vet did not charge us anything for this except for the anitbiotics and the vaginal flushings. We guess because it was their call to go in and see if it was anything that had to due with her spay in 2008. So we thank God for that. And we thank God for getting her through all of this with no complications. All the prayers from all of you and the love and support is so much appreciated. We have such wonderful furiends here and we can not thank you enough. The power of prayer is really strong here and thank you once again for thinking of us.
So, we will go back to the vet and continue doing what we are doing right now.

My vet is really good and reasonable and if they felt if they made a mistake any where they will take care of it. She has to get a doggy duesh. I don't know for sure what they duesch her with. I am thinking maybe a cleanser and an antibiotic of some sort. This is to keep the track clean. A vet we know that mom talked to said that this is not a life threatening thing and no one really knows why it happens it just does. That with the anibiotics and the flushing she should be fine. Usually it does not come back but it is something you have to keep your eye on for any signs. Such as licking and cleaning themselves a lot, and like we seen blood spots. But if it does reoccur then we need to get a smear done. Praying this is the end of it.........

I am glad she is feeling a little better. Just curious. What is the purpose of the flush? I never heard of anything like that before. What do they flush her with? And what kind of precaution can be taken so that the same sort of bacteria doesn't come back? You are really lucky to have such a good vet. Here, they charge just to look at the pet.
