Mom and I need your opinion
My Mom works four long days - so that means she leaves and 7:00 in the morning and (with any luck) gets home at 7:00 at night. So that means I don't get to pee or poo for - let's see (well, a very long time). Our neighbor use to walk me around 1:00 until they decided to cut down some of Mom's tree in the front yard and take the wood (long story) - anyway - Mom won't let her walk me anymore. So Mom asked a neighbor if their teenage daughter would take me out to pee and poo and we are wondering what to charge. Mom said she doesn't have to walk me because Mom and I do that when she gets home. The average dog petsitter fee up here is $15.00/$20.00 an hour - Mom is thinking 15 minutes is good. Now doggie friends remember this is Maine and it's four days a week. Any suggestions?

I just looked at the $money humans are paying for a little yard work. Gad! Since, my mommy is older and I need young but need plenty of exercise, we do it ourselves! We'll live much longer that way! Just buying Pee Pee Pads is chesper than what some of them pay. WoW Zorro

Wow! You have to go ...12 hours without making the little pee- peeing or making the little poo-poo? I couldn't do that! Ask your mommy, very nicely, if she'd get you some of those Pee Pee Pads. My mommy has 2 o3 3 of them in every room. (I've started to be trained, so she doesn't use as many now.) Anyway, I use these then mommy takes me outside two or three times a day. So, I don't have to wait. Just make sure to use these while she has to be gone. Don't forget! When she gets home, she'll take you outside! She'll love you a Lot then! Your friend, Zorro

Bently we are in Maine too and Mommy thinks $25.00 a week as any less and the kid might not want to do it. My 17 year old bro would do it for that. What part of maine are you in? We are in Thomaston... Play date?

THAT'S KINDA HIGH. MAYBE $10. FOR $15-$20 YOU COULD GO TO DOGGIE DAYCARE FOR THE WHOLE DAY XOXO

$15-20 is way too much. We agree that $5 or 7 is probably good for a teenager. Love Mollie and Angel Daisy

If I lived next door to you I would pay YOU $20/wk just to see Bentley for 15 min/day. (I'd stay longer than that!)

  • Animal Agents (Mar 18th 3:51 am)

We think that $15 is pretty fair but $20 will make her really happy and she'll do a good job. Make sure there is no way for you to get away from her... will you be in your own yard since she isn't walking you? She may just enjoy it so much she'll stay longer to play with you! Wow!

4 days a week...I'd say offer to pay her $20.00 a week...I know it's the same as $5.00 a day but $20.00 a week just sounds better...bol Shoot, that's $80.00 a month! That would pay for her cell phone bill!

We go to playgroup, but if not, mom pays 15 dollars a day for Jena to come and let us outside for a potty break, and she makes sure we go and cleans up the poop too..

Wow that's a lot of money!!!!We put potty pads down for Inky and then they go out when we get home.Maybe try that. Rose,Inky,Daisy and Angel

I know Bentley but the teens work at those prices usually, and the same kids do the yard work that do the dog walking, taking out and so forth, pet sitting. Some will try to get more, but in our neighborhood, Boy has grown up with most of the kids and parents decided long ago no one wanted to over pay them for work done, but not under pay them either. We all agreed on a basic price structure when they were all around 10 and starting to want to earn money. Just an idea.

Mom should mention that there are also a few neighborhood lawn services that only charge $40 for an entire package of weed wacking, mowing, weeding, putting down fertilizer or weed killer, edging and disposal of clippings. Those aren't company workers, just neighborhood people, but they do a good job and usually supply their own tools. So $5 is more than fair for a fifteen minute potty break.

Jeni - it's dog peeing and pooing - not yard work! BOL!

Here in MN, for a teen to do ALL of the yard work, mowing, edging, raking and bagging, plus any pick up that might be necessary is $30 usually. This includes minimal weeding and general prep, care of the tools (some supply their own), and Mom always brings them something to drink (pop) or cookies for a snack (small sandwiches, or something) and it takes them anywhere from two to four hours depending on the yard. (First time of the year, over grown weeds, or whatever...) For quick, "mow and go", she just pays ten dollars. (Most kids are willing to work for between 8--10 dollars an hour.)

Thanks for the comments. She is reliable. She lives just around the corner and Mom thinks her parents are a bit strict. Mom asked her parents because (the daughter) kept saying how cute I was (not bragging). Mom was thinking $20.00 a week, but she didn't want to seem cheap. If she had friends over - her parents would know. My Mom is super overprotective and would never let anyone walk me if she didn't trust them.
