blurb

They call me GMWB (Georgia Momma Wiggle Butt)!

I live in Bradenton, Florida

about me

My name is Georgia and I am a happy go lucky Boxer.  I have the best Mom and Dad in the world.  They adopted me from Florida Boxer Rescue the 2nd time I was in there.  I had a pretty rough childhood.  I lived in 5 houses by the time I was 1 1/2 and now Mom and Dad say I am stuck with them.  I think I can handle that though since I am what Dad calls "Spoiled Rotten".  I am not sure what that means but I like my life so it must not be a bad thing.  When I was a pup I had Demodex but you can't even tell now.  The resident dog at my Foster Mom's house was a great doctor and took good care of me since I wouldn't let my foster Mom do it.  My Foster Mom said she would be picky with who I ended up with since I was in the program twice.  She did a great job finding me my new forever home.  Dad always yells at Mom that I have too many toys and he keeps stepping on them.  He also tells Mom that I have too many beds.  I have one in Mom and Dads room, one in the living room,  a futon in the office, a big bed in my parents room (they sleep in it with me - sometimes they kick me out though because they say I hog it), and I rule the couches too.  Right now Mom and Dad don't have any furniture in the dining room so that is my play room.  I love this house.  I have my own potty room with a doggy door so I can go out whenever I want to.  I also have the best windows... I just lay down and rest my head on the window ledge and watch the world go by.  I love it.  Mom said that if we ever moved I would be very upset because not all houses have my favorite things.

I love to go for walks.  Mom and Dad also take me for bike rides (well they ride and I run).  Mom also takes me for a roller blade.  She puts these wierd shoes on her feet and off we go.  We go pretty far so about half way my parents let me go "swimming".  I say "swimming" because I just like to get my legs and belly wet.  I don't like it when my feet don't touch the ground.  The only time I like that is when I am after a bird!  I like to go for car rides with them too.  They treat me like a lot of people treat their skin kids.  They like to take me to the park and down to the doggy beach.  I love to go on adventures.  I don't do the doggy park though.  Mom and Dad tell me I am aggressive towards other small dogs.  I like to be in control they say.  I do play nicely with other dogs that look like me on mutual turf though.  I also can't be crowded and it helps if I am on a leash so Dad can correct me if need be.  I am very protective of my Mom though... don't touch her and we are fine.  I think this stems from when I was a puppy and I wasn't kept in a good home.  But luckily for me Mom and Dad have learned my body language and can read me so I do get to socialize too.

Well, I am going to go now.  I need to tell all my buddies from Florida Boxer Rescue about this web site.  Mom heard it on the news last night.  I love cyber friends so don't be shy.  The internet is a mutual place so I won't be agressive on here!

So Mom and Dad want me to get used to this thing even though I am not around other dogs.  They think it will make it less stressful if I know this thing on my face won't hurt me so they are going to put it on me for 15 minutes everyday!  I did it last night.  I fussed a little but nothing bad at all... I just kind of layed on my bed and relaxed.  No big deal.  When Dad too...

yeah, someone else with their own room. . . nobody really understands what I mean - but it is all mine, with my doggie food, water, another bed, a window and a doggy door that leads out to the fenced in yard... That way when Mom is at work, I have shelter, food, water and the yard to play in. What great Moms we have! Thanks for the paw of friendship! Have a great day!

The information was obtained at a white boxer web site..Something most people don't know is that the "RARE" white boxer is NOT rare at all it has been noted up to 25% of all litters contain white boxers. At one time white was the preferred color .Only problem me and Hendrix have is the fact when we go out to play it is mostly late in the day due to the fact we do sunburn easily. Also if we eat food or treats with large amounts of red dye it will turn our stomachs and around our eyes pink to bright red. So all we eat is food coloring free food and treats.

To answer your question on why white boxers are deaf.....The cause of the deafness associated with the white color is the absence of pigment cells in the inner ear resulting in a loss of sensory hair cells at about 6 - 8 weeks of age. The shortage/absence of pigment cells is also the cause of the white coat and unpigmented third eyelids (haw). Generally speaking, the more pigment in the coat the lower will be the risk of deafness, but all predominantly white dogs are at risk of being deaf.
