Following is what I'm calling "Morgan's Poem" which was sent to him  from his good friend Willow and her Mom, in upstate NY.  This poem just shows and exemplifies the wonderful love and compassion of the friends we have found on Doggy Space. Morgan and I will never be able to thank you all enough for your love, prayers, notes of concern and gifts you have bestowed upon us. With all this lifting us up, we are bound to create one more miracle for Morgan.  Thanks to Willow, his Mom and all the rest of you for everything......and....please keep him in your prayers.  Hugs, Morgan's Mom 

MIRACLE MORGAN, THE MACHO MALTESE 

He’s handsome; he’s hearty, he’s eager to please
He follows the Rays—He’s in love with his team!
His coat is pure white, he keeps it pristine
He fights off the ladies with all of his cute
He cheers on the Rays in their pennant pursuit
He’s sweet and he’s gorgeous, and he’s my good friend
I wish him good health while he’s on the mend
He’s 15 and full of vitality and vim

1. What is your name? Morgan, the Miracle Maltese
2. Why were you named that? I was named Morgan after my human brother's  college roommate...but Mom added the rest cuz I've survived cancer, a stroke, a pierced left eye, Vestibular Disease,   three compressed discs in my back and May of 2009 I was hospitalized for an enlarged gall bladder due to mineralization. I was  too old to operate so Mom and my wonderful Dr.Todd took good care of me and controlled it with medicine.
3. How old are you?  With DS prayers, I hung around for 16 years, 4 months and 16 days.  The last four years were truly the MIRACLE of it all!!  
I'm was almost blind but the vet said I could still see some light and I couldn't hear anything except my Mom's whistle but I did real good getting around the house and I even learned some hand commands. Plus my nose always worked just fine.
4. What color are your eyes? Black....all Maltese's are.
5. What breed are you? Maltese...the dog of royalty
6. Where do you live? New Port Richey, Fl..otherwise known as Paradise 
7. Does your Mom or Dad have a MySpace? No,Facebk but she doesn't like it.
8. Do you like car rides? Loved them!!...but they wouldn't let me drive.
9. Where do you go in cars? Usually it was to the vet. But I have traveled around the country with family once. I  also loved my almost nightly rides in my golf cart. We went looking for deer cuz they're so pretty and they play golf good too. 
10. Do you talk a lot?  Only when Mom was out...sometimes I howled like a wolf then too.
11. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being high) how smart are you? Do you have any doubts?...I was a 10 of course!!
12. Do you have any brothers and sisters? I use to have a lot...now just sister cat, Lizzie and she misses me very much.
13. What is your favorite food? I never was a big eater but I always wanted Lizzie's cat food and Mom wouldn't let me eat it.
14. What is the worst thing you have ever done? I tore up a rug once when I wanted out of a closed door. Did I tell you it was at a friend's house?  Mom was not happy!
15. Can you do any tricks? Before I hurt my back I could roll over, shake, play dead,  dance in a circle and not eat the food in front of me til told to.
16. What is your favorite snack? Wheat Thins and Cesar's treats.
17. What is your favorite hobby? Cuddling with Mom, I loved cuddling with Mom, did I say...cuddling with Mom and watching the Gators, Rays and Bucs?
18. Where is your favorite place or places to go? Anywhere with mommy.
19. Do you have a best friend? My Mom...do you see a pattern here?
20. Where do you sleep? I slept in the big bed between Mom and Dad..Lizzie's there too.  
21. Do you have a favorite toy? I'm was too mature to play with toys anymore but I did love my new pillow.
22. What is the best thing you did for your Mommy or Daddy? Kiss Mom's arms in bed at night. We called it Doggy Kisses. She loved it!!  Oh, the way to a woman's heart...just snuggle and kiss her.
23. Do you like swimming? I hated it....didn't like water. It's Dad's fault!!
24. What do you do when no one is looking? I use to suck on my pee pee til Mom caught me and sprayed it with "Bitter Apple"...ugh!!
25. Are you friendly? yes of course, would a sweet thing like me be anything but.
26. Do you bite? Never....but don't push me...oh, I forgot...I don't have teeth enough to bite you.
27. Do you like the vet? I loved my vet but I when I saw him he was always sticking me with something..it's those little pins called acupuncture. That's no way to treat a friend...how would he feel if we changed places...huh?
 But Mom says it's a good thingee cuz I couldn't walk before I started it.
28. Have you been to a pet store? Yes, but Mom wouldn't put me on the floor...she says other doggies don't all have the care I did and she was afraid of the germs there.
29. What does your collar look like? I had a blue (for boy) harness, of course, silly! That one told Mom it's was the day to give me fluids. On red days (that's when I had a red harness on) I didn't have to get the fluids.
30. What is the most coolest thing you have ever done? Mom and Dad snuck me upon a ski lift to the top of Whistler in British Columbia.  Also, since I've been sick, Mom snuck me into the bowling alley for her league play and I saw a ladies underpants when she bent over to bowl....really cool for an old guy. But, I'm still wondering if that's when my eye got hurt....so much pressure and so little time...oh, my heart be still. 

This  is my girlfriend, I call her my Sweet Pea Simba.
Isn't she just BEAUTIFUL? I think so...inside and out!

             Samantha was my feline sister...she was all black and Mom bought her for Daddy for a Christmas present before I even came to live with them but when I did she was very good to me. I loved her a lot. She lived to be 16 when she died of the big "C". We have her here with us in Fla. in an urn where we will all go someday so we can be together with her. RIP Samantha.
                                         

 

 

Hi, I'm Morgan the Miracle Maltese.  I was 16 years, 4 months and 16 days old when I went to the Bridge on January 26, 2010. I was a cancer survivor of almost 5 years!  Boy was my Mom ever  proud of me!  I'm a real Gator's fan....Tim Tebow...eat your heart out!!  I also love the Rays and the Buc's.  Mom and I  watched them all weekend.  I  recovered from a mild stroke I had the last week of May 2008. I had just about recovered from that stroke, after 14 weeks working hard on it, when a few weeks later on Sept 23,2008 I had another problem. Mom thought I was having another stroke and rushed me to the emergency vet but xrays showed 3 compressed discs in my lower neck, which were age related. I was recovering well from that and then my eye got something in it that caused a hole and an infection.The vet was really worried that I might lose my eye but Mom took good care of me and my eye got all better. I was still having problems with my leg and I lost a lot of weight. My local doctor said she couldn't do anymore and I still couldn't hardly walk.  She said I was too old to operate  so Mom decided to try acupuncture from a vet specialist about an hour's drive from home. The acupuncture worked and 15 months later I was walking very well. I was on a lot of meds and holistic stuff for the last 15 months.  I had an attack of Vestibular Disease...that's something old dogs get that is like Virtigo in humans. It looks awful and Mom was really scared my time was up but a trip to the ER Vet said "no" it would get better and it did. So we dealt with a gall bladder infection and a recurring staph infection but Mom took good care of me.  I had a great life and when I knew my time had come to go to the Bridge I told my Mom. At this age what I liked to do most was hug on the couch with my Mom.  Now I couldn't jump up there anymore so she use to lift me. Our nice neighbor even built me a ramp. I used it for almost a year but lost my balance on the couch and couldn't get back upright...so Mom took the ramp away and I stayed on the floor, unless Mom was with me on the couch. As long as Mom was near me I was happy and we both thought I'd just live FUREVER!!  But nothing lasts furever except death and taxes, Mom use to say. I had a great life and DS showed me so much love.  Thank you fur everything and please take good care of my Mommy fur me.
