blurb

My name is Ceiligh (pronounced Kaylee), which is a type of Gaelic dance. I live with my human parents and canine "siblings" Tango and Samba.

about me

I'm a six-year-old Jack Russell terrier/pointer mix, or what my mom refers to as a Pointerrier. I was adopted "by accident" when I was 8 weeks old. My people walked into a pet supply store looking for goldfish for their pond, and a rescue organization was there looking for homes for my littermates and me. Because mom and dad already had Samba and Tango (who has "issues" with most other dogs), they weren't planning on adopting any more furry family members. But, well, you know how it is. Just pour on the sweet puppy charm and give them a whiff of puppy breath, and they're hooked. Instead of goldfish, they ended up with me. Samba liked me from the very beginning and treated me like I was her own puppy or a very special baby sister. Tango took a while to warm up to me, but we get along fine now, although I'm very careful not to step on his paws or his tail or run into him. We have a great life: good food to eat, fun toys to play with, yummy bones to chew, and even the occasional trip to the mountains or the beach. I LOVE to swim! Samba and I also get to play with the foster pups my parents periodically take care of for the SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County, MD. (Because Tango is a bit "unpredictable," he usually misses out on this activity.) The puppies sometimes bug me, but they also can be fun. My most recent foster sister was Annie, a three-legged beagle/pointer mix who looks a lot like me. She has her own Doggyspace profile, which is now maintained by her forever family.

Calling all dogs (in the MD/DC/NoVA area) whose names begin with V

Posted on: August 4, 2009 at 11:45 am

My mom is working on a new book -- A is for Angel: A Dog Lover's Guide to the Alphabet -- and she's looking for a dog in the Maryland/DC/Northern Virginia area whose name begins with V to photograph and profile. Who would have guessed it would be so difficult? Surely there must be a Vixen, Venus, Velvet, Vincent, Vinnie, Verne, Vanilla, Velcro, or Vicky out there somewhere. So if you know any "V"
