Hey guys! This is D'.O.G.'s page (pronounced deeohgee). He is an 8 year old Boxer. Recently D'.O.G. had a very large mass grow rapidly on his right side. The mass is now baseball sized and growing! It has started to affect his quality of life and it has started to bleed at the edges (his body cannot provide the blood flow to them as the tumor grows) and it is keeping him up at night! Unfortunately like many pets now a days Dee' has suffered from the effects of the economy as well. His owner cannot afford the surgery he needs to have his mass removed. His owner loves him very much and despite everything Dee is a very important part of the family. She attempted to contact local nonprofits but they are all filled with similar sad situations and he was waitlisted. She attempted to get CareCredit but was declined. She recently lost her job 2 weeks after suffering from a heart attack and is dealing with medical issues of her own. Dee has many friends who would like to help him and started a fundraiser in his name to raise the money he needs for his surgery! The surgery is expected to be very extensive as the tissue is very vascular and will bleed. At this time we are unsure how deep the mass really is. Dee had his surgery today! It went really well, the mass was removed and we found 2 other masses we were able to remove with the funds we had. 1 of them is more concerning since it is so irregular and since it was bleeding. The one behind his ear was firm but less concerning. Unfortunately we didn't have the funds to cover biopsies for the other 2 masses and we will more pain meds over the next few days as well (due to his size pain meds get costly). However we still accomplished more than we expected and now we just have to cross our fingers and hope everything goes okay with the results... and hopefully if it is meant to happen we will get the funds we need for his other diagnostics! DEE'S HOPE

Hey everybody! It feels like we haven't been here in forever :) There is good reason for it though! There may be a few more steps we can take to help Dee so I wanted to update everyone. There is a local study on mast cell tumors in dogs going on at a specialty hospital and there is a really good oncologist taking care of that! :) To quality the dog needs to have a mast cell tumor that cannot...

    Hi! I am glad your surgery went well. Mona had a surgery in June and had a tumor which had fingerlike things... She is ok, but acts a lot older now that it's over with... We are all praying for you.

    Hi D.O.G., How are you? Mom is so busy this summer she can't take a vacation so she decided we would take a virtual vacation here on doggyspace. We want to go to as many places as we can. Mom said she thinks we can travel 200 thousand miles this summer. I think she's nuts but I'm up for her game. Mom would like to know where in North Carolina you live so she can put down how many miles we traveled to see you. Bol...yes now I know she's nuts.     Been there before dad says I am his money dog. 1.Licked a toad when I was a pup. Caused me to have heat like exposure symptoms 2.Cut my foot on a piece of glass had to have surgery to repair damage 3. had a growth form on my side got to be about the size of big marble hair fell out there but mine went away on its own. 4. Fell down basement stairs rough housing with brother hurt hip. 5. have a bad ticker due to toad incident stress on me. My brother is lucky the only problem he has ever had is an allergic reaction to his rabies shot doctor thinks it has something to do with being white. So when its time for shots we get to go stay at the spa. That's what mom calls it but I know it's the vet.Hope you feel better soon
