blurb

Hello...my name is Bucky.  I was my mommie & daddy's first Rottweiler. You will learn how I became part of their family.

about me

Hello...like I said, my name is Bucky.  Well, my real name is Bucky von Gammeldansk.  I got the BUCKY part of my name because...well, my top teeth kind of stuck out.  But I was still a very handsome boy.

I was born 4th. May, 1987.

This is how I became part of my furever family.

My mommie & daddy worked in law enforcement.  One night, someone in our neighborhood had a party & the police were called.  One of the party people ran from the police...well, he drove from the police & they think he didn't know the area because he drove into the cul-de-sac where my humans lived.  He almost lost control of his car & had he done that, he would have driven INTO my humans house.  I guess he decided to try & hide from the police BUT our neighbor, who was my daddy's work partner, called the sheriff's & said that one of the party people was hiding on our street.

My daddy & neighbor, went outside & made an arrest & waited for the sheriff's to come.  Well...this kid didn't like the fact that my daddy & friend did this so he started making threats to my humans & their friend.  He would drive by our homes & sit in his car & watch our houses.  Luckily, everytime he would show up, the sheriff's would be called & they would be there within minutes BUT he would drive off as soon as he heard the sirens.

My daddy called a friend of his & this person called another friend.  The second friend LOANED my humans the BIGGEST rottie around for protection.  His name was AKER(not the Aker that's here).  Well, my mommie fell in LOVE with him.  But they had to give him back once the bad kid went to prison.  But Aker did live with my humans for a few months.

When Aker was returned, a litter had been born & I was in it.  Many people had come to look at me, but I don't think I liked them because my mommie was told that I tried to snap at them.  But when my mommie held me, I didn't try to bite her.  I fell asleep in her arms.  And that was good for me...because I got to go home with her.

By the way...the bad kid had to go to prison for threatening a police officer & his family plus a long list of things.

At my home, there was a beautiful cocker spaniel named LADY WENDY.  She was so cute.  She was just a pup like me so we were able to grow together.

We would play in the yard...share our toys...sleep together...hang out together...go on walks together...and so much more.

When I was 5, I was diagnosed with lymphoma.  I had gained some weight so my mommie had to put me on a diet.  One day, she noticed that I was getting very thin so she took me to the vet.  Dr. Larry checked me over & he saw that my glands were lumpy.  So he ran some tests...CANCER.

Mommie didn't know what to do.  All she did was cry.  Dr. Larry sent me to see a very nice lady...Dr. Debra.  She was going to make me feel better, sort of.  She had a nice long talk with my mommie, told her everything that would be done, etc.  And then she told mommie how long I would probably be with her.  I was given only 6 months.

I started my chemo & did very well with it.  I didn't get sick or anything.  It took a few treatments before I went into remission.  I would stay in remission for a while & then I would come out & have to go back on my chemo.

During this time, mommie called the man she got me from & told them about my cancer.  They felt so badly that they gave mommie & daddy a rottie puppy.  Have this puppy around made me feel like a puppy again.  See, when I was on the chemo, I would get tired, but when the pup wanted to play, I would play.

In the middle of 1993, my Lady Wendy was diagnosed with lymphoma.  Mommie had become very nervous when she was told that I had cancer so she started checking Lady Wendy for lumps.  One day, she felt them.  She took Lady Wendy to see Dr. Larry & he told mommie the bad news.  So here we were...her 2 precious fur babies had cancer.

Lady Wendy didn't handle the chemo very well.  She was only on chemo for a short time.  She got very sick so mommie & daddy had to release her to the bridge.  Lady Wendy left me & Aker the day before Thanksgiving 1993.

Shortly after Lady Wendy went to the bridge, I came out of remission.  Remember when I said they told mommie that I would only be with them for 6 months.  Well, I beat the odds...I was able to stay with them for 1 yr.  But since I was not staying in remission, I started to not feel good at all.  I stopped eating...I was sad...and I was tired.

Mommie had called Dr. Larry & made arrangements for me to be released from my cancer body.  The night before my appt., I was not doing well at all.  Mommie & daddy knew that they had made the right decision to let me go.  So mommie sat with me on the floor & held me.  She talked to me...she cried with me...she told me that it was OK if I wanted to go to the bridge.  She told me that Lady Wendy & KC would be waiting for me, along with the other kitties from my family.  She told me that her & daddy would miss me but they knew I was tired & not having a good time anymore.  She rocked me & talked to me.  I think I knew how hard it was going to be on mommie to take me to Dr. Larry so the night BEFORE my appt., I went to the bridge on my own.  I looked up at mommie, gave her face a smooch, laid my head back in her lap & took my last breath in her arms.  She just sat there & held me.  She didn't even care that I had pottied on the floor when I passed.

I went to the bridge on 21st. Dec. 1993.  Lady Wendy went to the bridge in Nov as well as KC.  Mommie & daddy had a very rough few months.  And poor little Aker was so alone.  He lost both of his friends within weeks of one another.

Thank you for reading my story & letting me be your friend.  I will always watch over my mommie & daddy & their fur babies.  I am glad that I was given such wonderful humans.  They would have done anything for us.

xoxo...Bucky
