blurbWe are Mabel and Morgan, joined together through rescue. As one of the shelter workers (and now a friend) said, our "past is unclear but our future is crystal clear". Mom likes that saying.
about meHi, my name is Mabel.
I'm the short, 'block-like' one with red brindle hair and big eyes. When my ears are at full perk I look like Garfield the cat. I was adopted in Sept '09 at 9+ years old, from a shelter where I was returned several times. I had cherry eye, lots of bald and infected areas of skin and severe dry eye causing me to be near-blind. I am missing all my hair around my lower neck where it appears I was tightly chained for a long period of my life. My teeth are severely wore down, possibly from trying to chew off the chain. I have suppressed the memories of my past. Fast forward to today: I am a Loving Energetic 'Young' 10 year old . . . spoiled crazy and taking advantage of every minute of it!
When Mom and Dad first saw me, Dad said "Every dog needs a loving home before going to Heaven". Well, I'm a long ways from that point in my life but I'm glad I looked desperate enough at the time that Dad wanted to adopt me. Now I have soft hair, my eyes are treated (I can see much better now!) and I am just the cutest thing!
Hi, my name is Morgan.
I'm the long, lean one (Mom is so jealous of my figure!). I'm 5 years old (and a girl). I came from the same shelter as Mabel at the same time, but until a day before Mom/Dad came to get me, I didn't even know Mabel. Now she's my BFF! I had heartworm and also have epilepsy; I have had at least two other families in my past. Mom and Dad weren't looking to add to the family. They lost their first bully, Mario, to spleen cancer in '08 and were battling mammary cancer with Mia, our sister who we lost in Feb, '09. So, Mabel and I were the last things on Mom and Dad's minds. Well, with Mario in Heaven and Mia down here at the time, the two of them were working together paw in paw to time things just right to bring Mom and Dad a special gift . . . us! Mom/Dad says we are a true blessing!

I got a beautiful custom-made scarf from my secret paw. Check out a picture of me wearing my scarf under pictures on my page. Morgan and Harper are so jealous of my scarf. Hey girls - I'm sorry! Mom left DS open while she was making dinner and cleaning up tonight so we weren't actually at the computer. I haven't heard anything from Brutus. I'll let you know if I do and if you can let me know if you hear, I'd appreciate it. We have to keep praying for our buddy
